The crown jewels of the Sandestin Golf Club: The Links, Burnt Pine, The Raven and Baytowne. This month I highlight the beauty and challenge that is Baytowne Golf Club.

The Baytowne Golf Course at Sandestin is a haven for golf enthusiasts, drawing tourism guests and homeowners alike to the stunning scenery of Choctawhatchee Bay and the sparking white sands of the Gulf of Mexico. Envision leaving behind the hustle of everyday life, finding solace in the tranquil environment of Baytowne.

Rick Hileman, PGA Executive Director of Golf Operations and Golf Maintenance for Sandestin Golf and Beach Resorts, brags about this challenging course. Under the careful supervision of Ty Waite, Golf Course Superintendent, Baytowne Golf Club plays 3,002 to 6,804 yards, and offers multiple teeing areas for all skill levels.

What makes this course unique is that it is the only course on Florida’s Emerald Coast that extends from the beach to the bay. Designed by Tom Jackson, the fairways have elevation changes and bunkers that beckon. Sound ominous? No worries. A fifth set of tees make this course a great option for beginners.

Rick’s favorite hole is Hole 13. A long Par 4 on the south side of 98 narrow fairway, the hole plays uphill and into the wind. Rick thinks it is the most challenging hole at Baytown. Regardless of which hole become a favorite, all golfers return to tee off and enjoy the unchanging beauty the course offers on every hole.

Yes, there’s something for everyone, as the serene setting makes every moment enjoyable for the golf lover. Once you hit your drive, all memories of the schedules and responsibilities you left behind fade away. That’s the secret of golf, you know? The little white ball takes over, and the joy of playing this sport begins.

Let Baytowne provide an unforgettable escape for every golf lover whether hitting the perfect putt or simply soaking up the ambiance.
