Seacrest Beach: The Vibrant Heart of the East End
If 30A were a neighborhood block party, Seacrest Beach would be the lively center where everyone gathers. Tucked perfectly between the refined elegance of Alys Beach and the European charm of Rosemary Beach, Seacrest offers a high-energy, family-friendly atmosphere that serves as the ultimate home base for exploring the eastern end of the Emerald Coast.
The Lagoon: A 12,000-Square-Foot Oasis
While Seacrest Beach sits along the beautiful Gulf, the heart is its massive Lagoon Pool.
The Scale: At 12,000 square feet, it is one of the largest private pools in Florida, featuring multiple tiers, waterfalls, and a massive fountain that serves as a landmark for the community.
The Hub: During the summer months, the pool area becomes a social headquarters for families, complete with lush landscaping and plenty of space for lounging.
Peddler’s Pavilion: The Town Square
Directly bordering Highway 30A is Peddler’s Pavilion, the commercial soul of Seacrest. It’s a whimsical collection of kiosks, shops, and casual eateries that feels like a permanent street fair.
Bike Rentals: Most visitors start their day here at Peddlers 30A, renting the iconic beach cruisers that are the preferred mode of transportation in Seacrest.
Casual Eats: Whether it’s a sweet treat from Chicken Salad Chick, a slice from Pizza by the Sea, or a cold beer at the Peddler’s Pub, the vibe is strictly “no shoes, no shirt, no problem.”
Getting to the Beach: The Tram Experience
Because the Seacrest Beach North subdivision is located slightly inland, the community provides a unique Beach Tram service.
The Ride: From March through October, open-air trams shuttle guests from their front doors directly to the private beach access.
The Walk: For those who prefer to stroll, the “Palm Tree Path” is a scenic, brick-paved walkway that winds through the neighborhood toward the Gulf.
The Two Faces of Seacrest
There are two distinct areas that share the name:
Seacrest Beach (The Subdivision): This is the large, master-planned community known for its colorful multi-story homes, the Lagoon Pool, and the tram service.
“Old” Seacrest: Located on the south side of 30A and to the west of the main subdivision, this area features more traditional beach cottages, smaller condo complexes, and several Gulf-front properties that offer a quieter, more secluded experience.
Camp Creek Lake
On the western edge of Seacrest lies Camp Creek Lake, another of South Walton’s rare coastal dune lakes. It provides a peaceful contrast to the bustling pool scene, offering a quiet spot for bird watching, paddleboarding, or simply watching the sunset over the brackish water.
